One of Eighteen

Yesterday was my first day back to volunteer in the past three weeks. I took a week off to spend time with the grand kids, and last week I elected not to volunteer due to being a bit sore from my right & left heart cath.

The patients that were waiting the last time I visited were in good moods and doing as well as could be expected. I met a new person and one old friend was blessed with a new heart a couple of days ago. And, yet another, lost that final battle while waiting.

Every day, eighteen people a day die in the United States while waiting for a life saving organ transplant. Senseless and needless deaths in most cases.

As of this morning, there are 107,938 people on the UNOS waiting list for a life saving organ donation. But, today, eighteen people will lose that final battle, tomorrow eighteen more ………. WE NEED MORE REGISTERED DONORS!

If you are a registered organ donor, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

If you are not a donor, PLEASE consider becoming a registered donor, which you can do here ~ http://organdonor.gov/donor/registry.shtm

Please Register!!
