Vacation ended earlier this week. It was a truly wonderful trip. I got to spend a lot of time on the beach and I ate some really great food. As a matter of fact, I gained 3.1 pounds during the week we were gone and that a first for me. Thus, now I’m paying the price and am on a diet. Regardless, it was a really good trip and the relaxation level was perfect.
About 10 hours after I got off the plane on Tuesday night, I was at my transplant center volunteering. After missing a week I had some catching up to do. It was bittersweet, as I found out that one friend of mine was called home to God. Yet, another friend got the call for that ultimate gift, the gift of life and had a heart transplant earlier this week. Both were total artificial heart patients. I said a lot of prayers for a lot of families.
Since then, I’ve been to see my urologist. My standing bi-annual appointment where I get bent over the exam table, but without a kiss. Fortunately all is well and I’ll get to see her again in another 6 months.
The heat in our part of the country is doing a number on my garden. We lost a number of plants while we were away. At least my prized tomatoes are doing well. ((They aren’t “prized” in a county fair sense, only in my heart as I love tomatoes)
I have not been out on the golf course at all this year, but my Mom took us to lunch at one yesterday. We had a nice meal and conversation on the patio until the heat finally chased us inside. (See below)
Slowly, we are getting back to “normal” here. Whatever normal is for a heart transplant recipient.
Life is good!!
