Battle With the Vampire

Yesterday was my semi-annual heart biopsy and clinical visit with my transplant team. Since the heart biopsies are done by going in through the right side of the neck, after a while the resulting scar tissue makes it look like a vampire has been feasting on your life’s blood on a regular basis.

This was my 22nd biopsy since my transplant and even though one might think I’m well accustomed and well prepared for this procedure, it’s still an un-nerving process  for me. The old mind starts to race, and starts filtering words that we hear, the looks we are given by the staff to all be something negative, when they aren’t at all. A normally calm demeanor is “outed” as soon as the automatic BP cuffs reads exactly what’s going on beneath that “calm” exterior.

Another day of “hurry up and wait”.

Regardless, the over all results of yesterday’s were GOOD! My biopsy came back as a 1-R and all the labs looked good. However, the BP was too high during my visit and my morning at home readings are often right at the max of 140/90, so I will be going on a low does to a BP med ASAP. HCTZ, I think is what’s called.

It is what it is ……. and …………. LIFE is GOOD!!

We have snow on the ground here, this was South Florida the other day. Wishing I was there ……..

Warmth!!
