As of 7:50am this morning, there are 110,245 people on the UNOS waiting list for a life saving solid organ transplant.
This list grows every day, as does the number of people who pass away while waiting. On the average, 18 people a day die while waiting for an organ. But, I never see any outrage in the mainstream media with regard to that number. That’s almost 6,600 people a year, just in the United States. What a waste of precious life!
I’ve looked at the statistics and I see that my state, Ohio, has 55% of the over the age 18 population signed up to be donors. While this is commendable, it shows a LOT of room for improvement. There are some states that are much better, and some that are a LOT worse.
We need donors ……. we need you, your family and your friends to sign up now. Do not take NO as an answer.
You can sign up here, right now ~ http://organdonor.gov/donor/registry.shtm
