As I’ve written in the past, I’ve been very blessed on my heart transplant journey, by having, for the most part, decent insurance which has been a true blessing in helping pay for the expensive anti-rejection medications I must take to stay alive, as well as the procedures we must endure on a regular basis.
Others are not as fortunate in regard to insurance and their medications. However, at my transplant center, a number of years ago, a visionary heart recipient started a fund to help those without insurance pay for their medications. This fund, the Helping Hearts Fund, has been a blessing for a lot of people. I have donated to the fund in the past, and I will again.
I’ve also written about my love of “art” within these posts in the past. I truly admire those that can paint a portrait or sculpt, or compose and / or play a song …… they have a gift or gifts that I would love to acquire ……. but, alas, I have other abilities …… I can paint a room or a house, even a car …… but I can’t take a brush and a canvass and create.
So, what’s the point of the above paragraphs?
I was recently honored to attend an art show at a local gallery in which the artists set a side an entire weekend and donated not only their gallery, but also their skills, their works of art to help fund the “Helping Hearts Fund”. While I admit, I don’t know what does or doesn’t make any work of art good …. I do know what I like. And all of the paintings were awesome.
The show was titled ….. “it’s all about the heART”.
These folks had LOTS of heART, that’s for sure!!
