Over the years when friends, family or co-workers would worry about something , one of my favorite sayings is, “Don’t sweat the small stuff …… cuz it’s ALL small stuff!!”
As a person has not only been on death’s doorstep, but literally had one foot in death’s front door, I tend to try to not worry and fret over the “small stuff” in life.
I was reminded about “small stuff” the other evening when my wife announced that our water wasn’t getting hot in the sink. I used my old, “Don’t sweat the small stuff” saying as I headed to the basement.
Well, there was no easy fix that evening and the result the next morning was washing my hair and my body with COLD water, which is not the ideal thing to do in Ohio, in the winter.
Later, as I was installing a new water heater, I was reminded that every day our lives our filled with “small stuff” ……. it’s not all bad ……. for some of the “small stuff” in life ……. the singing birds, a child’s smile, our food and drink …… and, yes, even hot water from the tap is wonderful.
I am contemplating a change to my saying …….. “Don’t sweat the small stuff ……. be thankful for it.”
