My Home Town

I wanted to write a little about, what I call, “My Home Town”.

Bruce Springsteen wrote a song by the name of “My Home Town” and the closing lyrics are as follows …..

Last night I sat him up behind the wheel and said son take a good
Look around
This is your hometown

These lyrics were important to me when I took my son around “My Home Town” recently. I wanted him to remember his roots, as he moved away years ago. (And I’d love for him to return when he and his family are ready)

My home town is the place where I was born TWICE, yet I only technically lived in this city for a year, I still live in the area. It is a city that has had to bear a lot of jokes over the years. From our river that caught on fire, to our sad sack sports teams where The Drive (John Elway), The Fumble (Earnest Byner), The Shot (Michael Jordan), The Move (Browns to Baltimore), The Decison (LeGone James) are well known. We have some awful weather here, which always seems to last for way longer than it should.

However, I am very proud of this gritty old city. And I have good reason to be proud, we have an Iron Chef (Michael Symon) and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but more importantly we have the BEST cardiac hospital in the entire world …. Cleveland Clinic. They have taken on the toughest of tough cases and saved countless lives. THEY ARE TRULY THE BEST IN THE WORLD!

Pick on “My Home Town” all you want …… we’re the ones laughing …. YOU GOTTA BE TOUGH!

I saw the below a while back …… it sums up My Home Town!

And We Are!!
