With Arms Wide Open

There’s no doubt that I enjoy music. I enjoy analyzing the words, maybe not exactly as they were written, but perhaps more for a hidden meaning. The subject song of this blog was performed by Creed and if you really listen to the lyrics, read the lyrics they might mean different things to different people.

“With Arms Wide Open”

Well I just heard the news today
It seems my life is going to change
I close my eyes, begin to pray
Then tears of joy stream down my face

With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I’ll show you everything
With arms wide open
With arms wide open

Well I don’t know if I’m ready
To be the man I have to be
I’ll take a breath, I’ll take her by my side
We stand in awe, we’ve created life

With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I’ll show you everything
With arms wide open
Now everything has changed
I’ll show you love
I’ll show you everything

With arms wide open
With arms wide open
I’ll show you everything …oh yeah
With arms wide open..wide open

[Guitar Break]

If I had just one wish
Only one demand
I hope he’s not like me
I hope he understands
That he can take this life
And hold it by the hand
And he can greet the world
With arms wide open…

With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I’ll show you everything
With arms wide open
Now everything has changed
I’ll show you love
I’ll show you everything
With arms wide open
With arms wide open

I’ll show you everything..oh yeah
With arms wide open….wide open

For me, these words have become the song that describes how I felt after my heart transplant when volunteer heart recipients visited me ….. to the people who I have met through our month transplant dinners ….. and the many, many wonderful patients and their families I’ve met as a volunteer at my transplant center.

I started as the person whose life had just changed and others welcomed me “With Arms Wide Open” …. I’ve listened, I’ve learned, I’ve prayed, I’ve been humbled, I am ever so grateful ……. but this heart transplant journey has been more than that. I belong to a VERY close-knit family of people ……. fellow heart recipients and our significant others …. that all stand together “With Arms Wide Open”.

We’ve all “heard the news … our lives are going to change”.

We’ve all been welcomed by the family, “With Arms Wide Open”

“We stand in awe, we’ve created life” (Each and every one of us have been reborn. We are all walking, talking MIRACLES …… we are in AWE!!)

We all know “We’ve been welcomed to this place”.

And each member in our small, eclectic, loving family knows this all too well … I think it comes with our new hearts ~

I’ll show you love
I’ll show you everything
With arms wide open
With arms wide open

As a volunteer and fellow heart transplant recipient, I feel this is OUR family song! I’ve made it my mission in life to help others down this transplant path. In anyway that I can. All you have to do is ask, I am here for you, WITH ARMS WIDE OPEN!!!

And, YES, I did write about this song a few months ago …. (Click HERE) …… this song seems to be in my soul forever.
