Update ~ Pay It Forward Day

“If we all do one random act of kindness daily, we just might set the world in the right direction.”

A little update from yesterday’s “Pay It Forward Day”, which is, at least in my mind, synonymous with “Random Acts of Kindness” …….

I didn’t count how many “acts” were performed as I was too busy “planning and plotting”, then talking to others (clerks, etc) into what I was trying to do ….. treat some people to a free meal …. especially those down on their luck, etc.

It was sort of easy to get started as I was on my way to volunteer at my transplant center and an accident on the Interstate ahead had caused a five-mile back up. So I exited the interstate, fired up my GPS and took a route through some of the older, in some cases very run down areas which made giving a bit easier.

At times it was funny …. when I handed one clerk some cash and said I was buying lunch for people that she “thought deserved a prepaid meal” …… she looked at me like I had three heads. One person refused to participate, so I moved on … undaunted. A couple of clerks thanked me for my generosity, yet no recipient ever saw me, and that’s the way I wanted it. Random, anonymous acts!

Not every random act involved cash ……. there were some fairly easy things for me to do to assist others. While getting gas in my car, I pumped (but didn’t pay for) the gas for 3 separate elderly women. I helped a guy change a flat tire. And so it went.

Fortunately, I had a sport coat & dress slack on, so people didn’t feel threatened as I approached them

It’s been an AMAZING day!!!

I DO NEED TO DO THIS MORE OFTEN!!

Pay It Forward, WITH Random Acts of Kindness
