The Month of April = GRATITUDE

Tomorrow is the first of April … April Fools Day for some. But, for me it is the first day of DonateLife month …… a month of inspiring others to become involved, to registered potential donors, to help get the word out that organ donors are hero and they save lives. It’s also a month to remember our own donors.

My life was saved by an anonymous donor. This person means the world to me. Not long ago I was talking with an acquaintance and I got a bit “misty”, or as my grandson would say “my eyes got all sweaty”, while discussing my transplant, and my donor. I was asked, “how can you weep for someone you’ve never met and never will meet?”

My response was simple ….. “BECAUSE I CAN …… this unknown person gave me something that NO ONE else could give me ….. LIFE …… I’m reminded of my donor ever day, and I give thanks for the ultimate gift he or she have give me.”

The look on his face was priceless …. and he was speechless as well.

The past couple of years, during DonateLife Month, I’ve posted myths and facts on transplants …. quotes about heroes …. MY HERO …… and this year, starting tomorrow, April 1st, I will kick off my “30 Days of Gratitude to My Donor” series ……. some of you saw a glimpse of it the other day, when I pushed the wrong button, LOL.

Each hearbeat is filled with the sound of GRATITUDE!
