Our Transplant Nurses

In two days, on Wednesday 4/18/2012, it will be International Transplant Nurses Day. I’ve been thinking about how to recognize my favorites, which are also my transplant coordinators. Since I’ll be at the hospital volunteering that day I will take them a little something ….. maybe take a “Thank You” for them.

They are and have been extremely important people to me on this heart transplant journey. From pre-transplant evaluation, through surgery, in the ICU and onto the regular nursing floor, and almost 5 years of follow-up ….. they have been there every step of the way.

Wednesday is their special day ….. I hope I can brighten it up a little.

May God always bless our nurses …. they are special people!!

Thanks for the reminder. I have been following your blog since my husband received his “2nd heartbeat” on March 5th of this year. We feel so lucky to have more time, but, know that each moment is a gift not to be squanered.

Thanks for your comment and I hope your husband continues to do well. At 6 weeks out, I was in the beginning of what I called, “The long road back” ….. it does take a while. But our coordinators are there for us …. helping, encouraging and even riding us if we need it. I wish you both the best!!
