Welcome

If you put together the people whose lives have been touched by organ donation, either as recipients or donors become a “family”. A close family at that. I’ve seen this every year at our local OPO (organ procurement organization) events, and also at our monthly heart transplant dinners. I’ve written about the fantastic Lifebanc events in the past, which are truly a celebration of life and the tears and gratefulness we have for our donors ….. HERE, HERE and HERE.

Not long ago, a dear friend of mine within the organ transplant community posted this song on the http://www.TransplantBuddies.com “forums” as being VERY appropriate for the transplant community.

I had totally forgotten about this song and I was immediately BLOWN AWAY when I listened to it.

Not only for recipients, but also for the families of our donors, those that gave us the ultimate gift …. THE GIFT OF LIFE!! (May God bless them ALWAYS)

“Welcome” – by Phil Collins

I’m going to lobby to have this playing during the balloon launch at next year’s Gift of Life Walk & Run by Lifebanc.

WELCOME!!!!!

Full lyrics ~

There’s nothing complicated about the way we live
We’re all here for each other, happy to give
Proud of who we are, humble beneath the stars
We’ve everything we need, the moon and sun
Ooh there is more than enough for everyone
All we have, we share, and all of us, we care

So come on, welcome to our family time
Welcome to our brotherly time
We’re happy giving and taking
To the friends we’re making
There’s nothing we won’t do
Welcome to our family time
Welcome to our happy-to-be time
This is our festival you know
And best of all we’re here to share it all

There’s a bond between us nobody can explain
It’s a celebration of life and seeing friends again
I’d be there for you, I know you’d be there for me too

So come on, welcome to our family time
Welcome to our brotherly time
This is our festival you know
And best of all we’re here to share it all

Remembering love once departed
Someone dear to your heart
Finding love, planning a future
Tell stories and laughing with friends
Precious moments you’ll never forget

This has to be the most beautiful, most peaceful place I’ve ever been to
It’s nothing like I’ve ever seen before
When I think how far I’ve come I can’t believe it, and yet I see it
And then I see family, I see the way we used to be

Come on, welcome to our family time
Welcome to our brotherly time
We’re happy giving and taking
To the friends we’re making
There’s nothing we won’t do
Welcome to our happy-to-be time
This is our festival you know
And best of all we’re here to share it
We’re here to share it all
