Here Comes the Judge

I usually stay away from politics on this blog, as my goal here is to assist other heart transplant patients on their journey, a much as I can.

Today, I want to share a well written blog by a fellow heart transplant recipient that I have been following for a number of years. My “subject line” was borrowed from him. This gentleman has had his heart a few months longer than I have and I wanted to share this well written blog by him. His link is on my favorites to the right …..

This blog concerns a recent case in Philadelphia with a young girl that needed a double lung transplant, but due her age was placed on the children’s waiting list and was not eligible for adult lungs that might fit her.

Catch 22 …. I can remember at the time that my thoughts were with the family on one hand, a parent will go to the ends of the earth for their child … I know I would ……. yet a level of aggravation that lawyers and judges were involved in a medical case that should, in my opinion be decided by UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing).

Not trying to stir up a debate ….. just trying to make everyone think. As he explains, the bottom-line is we NEED more registered donors and these types of situations would become less and less.

Sheepdog covers these points EXTREMELY well. Please read his blog here –
