40 Years – Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald

40 years ago today a huge freighter went down in the Great Lakes (Lake Superior to be exact). Most don’t know the story or don’t care but for some reason this event has always touched me. Today, I think of the people that lost loved ones on that fateful day 40 years ago.

Excerpt from Wikipedia – SS Edmund Fitzgerald was an American Great Lake Freighter that sank in a Lake Superior storm on November 10, 1975, with the loss of the entire crew of 29. When launched on June 7, 1958, she was the largest ship on North America’s Great Lakes, and she remains the largest to have sunk there.

Gordon Lightfoot wrote/performed a song – “The Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald”

Today I mourn the loss of these men ….. I will always be touched!
