Surprise Party

“For a detective, a surprise party is the ultimate insult.”

~ Thank goodness I’m not a detective, LOL

On Friday, my family and close friends honored me with a SURPRISE 10th heart transplant anniversary party. I mean I was TOTALLY clueless.

Being almost a week ahead of my actual anniversary date probably made it a tad more emotional for me, but it was fun and we did have a wonderful evening. A couple days later and I’m still thinking about the evening.

At the party, there were 10 Red Heart helium filled balloons to honor my 10 years post transplant. Yesterday, I decided to attach a note of explanation to them and let them head off toward heaven and where-ever the winds would take them. At 4:02PM, with a ton of thoughts about my donor, and a few tears in my eyes, they were turned loose and the steady 15mph winds (and a light steady rain) from the North-West took them quickly out of sight in a South-Easterly direction …… in the general direction of Pittsburgh, PA ……. and maybe Maryland/Virginia beyond ….. perhaps, heaven?

I know emotions will rule the week ……. I am forever GRATEFUL.

The #1,293 is my transplant number …… I was the 1,293rd Heart Transplant at my hospital.
