15 Years Ago Today, 5/29/2007

Fifteen years ago day, a mere 4 days after I was released from the hospital post heart transplant, I was back at the hospital. But this time, I was there as an “outpatient”.

It was Tuesday, the day after Memorial Day. Since I was still so very slow, we came the afternoon before and stayed over night in the guest house. I had NO idea where anything was, but we muddled our way through the day. The places I went and the basic medical procedures I had that day, I would go through on every check-up for the first five years. EKG, X-rays, labs, a right heart cath (aka heart biopsy), see one of the transplant coordinators, and then see one of the transplant doctors.

I don’t remember how long we were there that day, and the actual time spent there always varied. I do remember being VERY relieved that they didn’t find something wrong and that I had to be readmitted to the hospital. I was going back home!
