I have always enjoyed walking. And, since my heart transplant, it’s a good way to get much-needed exercise in addition to working out at the gym.
It helps me keep my weight in check, it also helps me keep this precious gift that beats in my chest, working properly.
I have always been a “people watcher” when I walked. Watching people do the things they do. I’ve observed a LOT of interesting things while watching people. We all have our own little twitches, gestures or oddities that even we don’t notice about ourselves. Noticing people having good days, bad days, helping others or potentially up to no good. The insane things people wear at times, etc, etc.
So, walking and watching has always been fun for me. On the other hand, “Mrs. My2ndHeartBeat”, watches for money. She is always finding money while we walked. A lot of money, it seems. She got me into this “observation” as well and even though I still enjoy people watching, I assist her in the great money search as well.
We walk a lot ……. any place outside if the weather is good. If the weather is poor we walk inside ….. at the mall, or laps around the inside perimeter of the local Super Wal-Mart, where one lap is 0.4 miles.
I wear a pedometer daily and all of my walking for 2010 totalled 2,502.5 miles. A daily average of 6.85 miles. Which is slightly under my self-imposed daily goal of 7 miles a day. (I track my activity along with my daily vital signs)
Unbeknownst to me, Mrs My2ndHeartBeat was saving all the money we found during the year. She counted it up the other day and we had found $198.23 (don’t tell the tax man) ……… enough to buy a couple new pairs of walking shoes.
The money not-with-standing, I’m still out there walking every day, and watching for you to drop some money at the same time.
